Requesting solution for sadhana related problems
« on: April 03, 2007, 04:04:32 AM »
Jai sai master!

I am also going through more or less same situation (as sai bandhu manyav said) when ever I do parayana.. Even Lord Dutta and Baba, some times goddess Durga also gave darshan in my dreams and blessed me just before I started parayana. But I could not do justice to parayana (mentally) as sri Manyav said. How do u consider this? As a psychological or a sadhana related problem? You don?t believe that even I punished myself for those thoughts. But still I could not get rid of such thoughts or any improvement in sadhana.Do I need a phychiatric help? I wonder, even after god?s blessings, why it is happening to me?
If it continues so, how can I reach him? As he is everything for our family?

Anxiously awaiting reply and help.

Thank you.
Jai sai master..

Jai Sai Master.
Dear Sai Bandhus,

Every Sai devotee will get this question at a particulat point of time in their lives. We try to show shraddha but we may not move further.

This is exactly what Baba's Dakshina what we are supposed to offer ie Shraddha and Saburi.

Please read chapters 5("Nishtha") , 6 ("Saburi") and chapter 7 (" Dakshina") from the book "Sri Sai Master Pravachanamulu. Mastergaru already thought about our practical problems like lack of shraddha ( self confidence / Faith ) and Saburi ( Patience ). Thats why Mastergaru gave us the solutions also in the form of Pravachanamulu.

Please share your opinions which will strengthen the shraddha in all of us.

Jai Sai Master.

Facts:

From Prabodhamrutham:
1. Hurting body to control senses is tamasic tapas.

2. Everyone should learn martial arts at least to some extent as they are needed to remove immotilities formed in childhood and make the body and mind to get back the natural quality that can control all senses automatically according to dharma and make them ready for meditation. More details are in Prabodhamrutham.

From Dhyanayogasarvasvam:
1. One should follow dharma blindly and crudely (In telugu: guddigaa, bandagaa) otherwise one may do mistakes and fall from any stage before reaching the goal and this can even lead to low births where God's grace is not received.

Don't remember the source but told by master:
1. One should not listen to mind.

2. Never attempt pranayama (in case if you are doing -sudhakar) as it can lead to insanity (losing control over mind - Master's definition) if not learnt under proper guru.

My views:

1. Never hurt body. As master says 3,00,00,000 devathas reside in everyone's body. One should not hurt them. Not even a single cell can be/is created by us.

2. Did you observe that mental patients do not have control not only on mind but also on body? This is there to some extent in many people. Body and mind are interrelated. First we have to control body movements. When reading do not move any of your body parts than what is required and that gives shradha in long run. This is true of any work and should not move any body part or use it unnecessarily than what is required to complete the work with perfection. One can try to serialise and do one thing at-a-time wherever possible. Please try to sit without moving any of the body parts for some fixed time without doing anything and increase the time gradually. Gaze on a fixed spot and be like that. Swamy vivekananda also said that he used to practice this in his childhood. Close eyes if needed but have no movements in eyes. The reason is any thought will bring change in body movements especially in eyes if one has the capacity to observe these subtle movements. Thatz why baba had put all his life energy in eyes and gazed his guru constantly. (in telugu: jeeva sakthinantha kallallo, dhrushti ni na guruvu meedha ....). Forced (stopping is also forcing) eye movement is related to curing psychological disorders. Please refer the following link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_Movement_Desensitization_and_Reprocessing

3. After some days one can meditate deeply on Baba. Meditation on Baba's form in heart with manasika pooja is better.

4. Baba says one has to meditate on him as anandha. Only if not possible then on his form. First we have to learn how to eat. After offering to baba, one way (there are other ways also) is to taste the food completely. Have no thoughts and let not your mind roam in thoughts of its previous eating or anything else. As Master says, live in present. Only observe the bliss/anandha that comes out of tasting. Do not talk. Stop to listen/ to talk. Observe the ananada at present while doing any other task too and not just eating.

5. Sacrifice one hour of your going to bed at night or go early before one hour or get up after one hour. Please do sai nama japa for 'one hour'/as much time as you can without any thoughts but imagining his loving form. Use a photo/picture of him if needed. This removes the bad karma, coming as obstacle for sadhana, after which love in Him will increase and on senses will it decrease. In case you do not know: There is a specific method in doing nama japa with 'japa mala'/rosary. We have to move them with pointing finger with middle finger as base. Never with thumb. Once reaching meru (head bead), the beads/rosary must be reversed. ie., meru should never be crossed. One can do with fingers also and again there is a specific way. Or one can do without using any external help too.

6. "Runam, Sathruthwam, Hathya" - Leelamrutham says that these 3 have to be paid for. Remaining can be worked out with namajapa and the like.

7. Please refer my previous posts on nama japa and parayana:
http://p4.forumforfree.com/saimaster-search.html?search_author=Sudhakar

8. Have patience. As baba says this removes all obstacles.

9. Get married soon, if not yet Smile

10. Even after all this, if your worry effects your normal work and duties then please consult a psychiatrist as it is a psychological disorder. It can be cured either with counselling or/and with medication. "Mani, Mandhu, Mathram" - "Wearing jewel, taking medicine, manthra (either by getting the effect of it when chanted by some one or getting initiated and chanted by oneself - I don't know which way)" - These 3 are accepted in spirituality.

Best regards
Sudhakar

I totally agree with what Sai Uttam Pallavi wrote.

Those chapters explain the solution to that problem well.

One of my favourite zen poems goes like this.. (Its actually said by a buddhist monk)...

I was walking down a street,
There was a hole,
I didnt know it was there and I fell in,
It was dark inside, and after trying hard, I came out..

The next day, I was walking down the same street,
There was a hole,
I didnt remember and so I fell in,
It took some work to get out.

The third day, I was walking down the same street again,
there was that hole,
this time i remembered it, but it was too late, I fell in,
but due to previous experience, I came out fairly easily.

The fourth day, I was walking down the same street,
there was that hole,
I remembered and walked round it.

I was walking down another street...
(Where there was another hole that I didnt know about....)

Here the buddhist monk was talking about the spiritual way and practise. We keep falling and failing.. whats important is not to get bogged down. Its important to keep faith that Baba will recount every paisa to God and that He would take ALL His devotees to God through Subhra maarga. When ever we fail, we should look at it as a learning opportunity. I personally feel that I failed in my shraddha because Baba blessed me so. I mean, had I not failed now, I wouldnt become stronger and try harder, and If I dont get stronger by will and experience, there is a danger that I might fall sometime later on! And as Master said, the higher you fall from, the harder it feels. I rather fall as many times as necessary now than later, if you know what I mean.

What we should do is to keep trying again and again, and keep praying Baba. The fact that you got blessed by Durga Maata and Baba before parayana is a sure sign that you are on the right track. Dont get too disappointed. Try to see why you are not able to justify parayana mentally and just try again and again! Thats all we should look forward to.
Infact, I believe your parayana is going on great. You understanding that you arent justifying it is ample proof of that. I know many people (including me first) who do parayana without even realizing that they are not justifying it with enough shraddha. The fact that you understand it is a sure sign that your parayana is going on great and that you have Baba's blessings. Now all you need to do is keep trying.

May Baba Bless us all!

Jai Sai Master!

Jai sai master!

Thanks to sudhakar garu, Sai uttam Pallavi garu, and Dwaraka nath garu, for your moral and spiritual support to boost my shradha in Baba. I am really blessed. that I joined this online sathsang (which is like a stick for blind).

Here I would like to share something with you.

To day is Thurs day. I did my routine as usual. .(I don?t know why,) I felt happy before I sat down to perform puja. I did manasika sodasopa chaara Puja to baba and read the leelamritham as much as I could . and today I thought of reading the 15 th chapter also in sai satcharitra.,in Eng. I just opened the book casually,. and to my surprise 14 th chapter was opened. I took it as baba?s wish and read 14and 15 chapters as ( I wished.)( All of you know that 14 th chap Was abt. Dakshina i.e. Shradha , Arishadwargas etc.). I completed my puja satisfactorily, offered Naivedyam and before getting up I just opened the Sai satcharitra again randomly,My eyes stuck on some thing in bold letters, in page no, 4. ?DO NOT BE AFRAID., HOLD FAST TO THE HANDLE OF KNOWLEDGE OF THIS MILL, AS I DO, AND DO NOT WANDER FAR AWAY FROM THE SAME, BUT TURN INWARD TO THE CENTRE AND YOU ARE SURE TO BE SAVED.? ?. ( Surprising!!. Was n?t it?)

Then I went through the whole paragraph. It was like this. (philosophical significance of
Grinding)??..?This reminds us of a similar story of KABIR ,who seeing a woman grinding corn, said to his Guru, Nipatniranjan, ? I am weeping, because I feel the agony of being crushed under this wheel of worldly existence , like the corn in the hand-mill.? Then Nipatniranjan replied as above. .

I got up. Completed my break fast and sat down to browse the forum and found both mails, which are similar to my experience to day. Though I am going through the forum regularly, some how I missed Sri sai Uttam?s mail about sadhana related problems ,till to day. My eyes really got wet . I don?t know whether it is a mere co incidence or an assurance from my beloved God for me, through you?.Thanks for your greatest support. I am sure I can reach him with your help. Real bandhus in ?deed??. My reverences to Mother, Master and Baba?Craving for that ?Arhata? (as you got ) sitting in the lap of our loving master?..

Dear Paras!
Dear all!

Jai Sai Master!!

Paras, you experienced a wonderful leela of Baba, you are very very very lucky. Do not be bogged down. I was in the same situation. Ofcourse, I am not saying, my Parayana is excellent now. But with Sadguru's blessings, it is going on fine, and never have I thought that it is routine. Everytime I complete it and then start it again, I learn something different. One boon that Sri Sai has given me, is I am a very graphical person. I imagine things. Everytime, I read Sri Guru Charitra, Sri Sai Leelamrutam, Mahatmula Muddu Biddadu, Guru Sushrusha, I imagine.

For example, I think if I were a graphic artist, I would describe the last chapter of Sri Guru Charitra. When Sri Guru sits down on the "poola naava" and slowly disappear. It was wonderfully described. While the devotees look at the form of Sri Guru slowly disintegrating from their view, eventually they see emptyness, relating that emptyness to the one in their heart that they just developed for not beng able to see Sri Guru. Then as slowly, they see another form slwoly coming into the picture, and they feel a momentary thrill, "is it Sri Guru coming back?" "is it somebody else?" and then they see the fisherman.

The above thing might not have happened (I mean the "thrill" part) but it gives me goosebumps to be thinking about that Sannivesam.

I feel that you are already blessed, your parayana will be just fine. Just like Sri Babu garu said, you just keep at it.

Dear all, I thank you for your replies to Paras. It answered a lot of my questions too, regarding concentration etc.

Jai Sai Master!

Regards,
Ananth

Thank you Ananth for giving the idea about the graphical imagination of the incident. I heard or read in Mastaru's speech/books about the same but never put in to practice. It helps NOT to become a mechanical routine and adds lot of Bhava during the parayana. Now as you mentioned about the Sree Gurucharitra last chapter, mere thinking about it gave lot of bliss.
I will try to put this in practice during my parayana

One thing that keeps me on parayana is that I read the books but my inner mind hears them as Master's speaking. that is, i read imagining the modulation if Master were saying this. It really keeps my mind attentive during parayana.

Thinking graphically is very good. I do that a lot with contemplative reading.

Jai Sai Master.

Thank you for this great idea. Thinking graphical gives joy and our presence, almost as a part of the incident. Doing it as Master is telling us is thrilling in the first case and could bring in maximum reverence.

Before I try that, Many many Pranamas to Sai Master, bless me.
And to Everyone here, for he is in your hearts.
Special thanks again for Your Excellency Dj for enlighting on the other topic on Srisailam.

Jai Sai Master.
