Jai Sai Master, Babu garu..
Jai Sai Master, Sai Bnadhus..
Sowjanya garu, Jai Sai Master..
It's a good thing you asked this forum about reading stories to your kid.
I don't know whether it is effective or not but I would like to share what I do with my kid.
They keep on asking us a 1000 question a minute. And we give stupid answers 999 times. But the more we read Master's books the more we learn about how to give a proper perspective to our kids. We might fail most of the times but we should not give up. And most of the times, we learn more by teaching our kids.
Every single time she asks why it is like that, I try my best to see if I can link it to Baba/Master. Sometimes I succeed sometimes I am not. So, I feel that it is individual for every family.
Some examples are, my daughter gets scared about dogs. So, we try to tell her that they are good too and that if we don't harm them, they don't harm us and that there are some times when even if we don't harm them, they might harm us and during those times, we should be careful and defend ourselves.
There are many such examples.
Coming to the main point, that is about stories, we try to tell her stories from Sai Leelamrutam. Like, take any incident and we can make it a little longer. We tell her the Hansraj and how beats the cat and how Baba was in the form of that cat.
We tell her the stories of Megha, Mainatayi from Leelamrutam. We give her the choice and she says according to her mood "Mehga story cheppu".
I also tell her the stories from Sri Guru Charitra which are simple ones. Like Sri Guru goes to the poor families and uproots a tree in one family and blesses them and He drinks the milk from another poor family's Cow and then blesses them.
So, I think we need to use our imagination and then pray to Master that the right words come from our mouth.
Hope I did not confuse you Sowjanya garu.
Regards to all,
Jai Sai Master!
