Jai Sai Master.

The following information might be useful for those visiting Avadhuta Sri Chivatam Amma Samadhi at Chivatam, and Sri Sudhindra Babu gari Samadhi at Undrajavaram for the first time. Please correct/improve these details if needed. These two villages are very close to Tanuku, which is a small town.

If you are coming from a faraway place, then the nearby relatively more well known town to those places is Ravulapalem (RVP). RVP is in NH-5 route, and is nearly 30 Km away from Rajahmundry (RJY). The frequency of buses from RJY to RVP is reasonably good! So, if you are coming by train, you may come by train till RJY, and then take bus to RVP.

From RVP, you need to catch a bus going towards Tanuku, which is another small town. Tanuku is again 30 Km away from RVP!

Just to get a feel of these locations:
http://goo.gl/maps/oU7H

The process is simplified if you take a Taxi/Auto from Tanuku Bus stand to those places (~5 Km away). I mention here the routes when you continue to travel by a more economical means :-)

Here are the routes when you are going from RVP towards Tanuku, by Bus...

(1) If you are visiting Sudhindra Babu gari Samadhi first

(1.a) To go to Sudhindra  Babu gari Samadhi:
(A) Little before entering into Tanuku town, on the national highway road, there is a side road that goes to Undrajavaram.
One can ask the Bus conductor to stop at that road (the conductor should generally know the exact location), and get down there.

(B) From there, there will be share-autos going to the Undrajavaram. Another landmark near Sudhindra Babu gari samadhi in Undrajavaram is a "petrol bunk".

(1.b) To go from Sudhindra Babu gari Samadhi to Amma Samadhi:
(A) From the petrol bunk near Undrajavaram, one can take an auto directly to Amma Samadhi at Chivatam; This may cost around Rs. 50/- in case there is no share auto.

(1.c) To come back from Amma Samadhi to Tanuku:
(A) To come back, from Chivatam to Tanuku road (this on the other side of Tanuku main town compared to Undrajavaram road mentioned above), it's about 2 or 3 km, you can take either a Riskshaw (~ 10 Rs.) or an auto.
This stop is called as Bellam Market.
This is, similar to Undrajavaram road, a bypass road very close to the town.

(2) If you are visiting Amma Samadhi first

(2.a) To go to Chivatam:
The stop is called Bellam market. I think this stop comes little after crossing the Tanuku main bus stop. (That means, you need to take bus ticket to the stop that comes after Tanuku to get down here!) So from there, one can go to Chivatam. Bus conductor should be generally knowing that stop. Follow the inverse route of (1.c)

(2.b) To go from Chivatam to Undrajavaram:
Follow the inverse route of (1.b)

(2.c) To go from Undrajavaram to Tanuku:
Follow inverse route of (1.a)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Sudhindra Babu gari samadhi mandiram is closed from around 1 pm in the afternoon till the evening. On the other hand, Amma Samadhi is always open from morning till late evening. So in case if you happen to reach near Tanuku at that time, it is better to first visit Amma samadhi, and then to Sudhindra Babu gari place.

Places to visit in Chivatam:

(1) Amma Samadhi, (2) Amma Kutiram, (3) Ramulavari temple

All these 3 places are in the same compound, side by side.
http://saibharadwaja.org/books/readbook.aspx?book=Avadhuta-Sri-Chivatam-Amma-Charitra&page=4

In the same compound, there is also the house of a devotee of Amma; her name is: Geethamma garu. In her house, there is a huge collection of photos of Sri Sudhindra Babu garu. This is indeed a treat to see so many photos of Sudhindra Babu garu at one go. So, you may profit by spending some time in that house also.

(4) Jammi chettu - This is the tree where amma used to immerse in deep meditation. This tree is still there in the outskirts of chivatam, but unfortunately, the surroundings are not well-maintained. Plan to visit this place only if you have ample time...

jai saimaster!

I think this post should be made sticky. It will be helpful to people who are desiring to visit those places.

Subramanyam garu, thanks for mentioning about the jammi chettu. The words 'deep medititation' is more like a single word samadhi. It reminds me of Ramana maharshi's period of silence and Master's realization in shirdi.

Jai Sai Master!

I never visited any such place, other than Baba's shirdi and Changdev Maharaj. It is really helpful for people like me.

Definitely, definitely its a priceless information gorthi garu. If you can add info about other (master mentioned) mahatmas like Master, nampallibaba, venkayya swami, pakalapati guruvu garu etc....its really helpful.

I can't agree more with raghuramgaru, that this post should be made sticky.

keep up the good work sir...

Jai Sai Master.

Dear Guru Bandhus,

Last year we had an opportunity to visit Shirdi, Nagole, Avadhuta Ramireddy Thatha samadhi few times. Even after almost one year, every time it reminds us about those sacred places. Maanasikanga aa pavitramaina sthalaloa vunna anubhuti kalugutundi. We kept thinking how Master garu encouraged many devotees, students to visit Mahatmas, Mahatmas samadhi. Just last week we thought may be there are many devotees in our Satsang who would have visited Mahatmas, Mahatmas samadhi. And by sharing about our pilgrimage, we can be in Mahatmas smarana for little longer.

Now we see this thread. Our humble pranaamalu to Master garu.

Subramanyam garu, thanks for giving details about how we can take darshan of Sri Chivatam Amma, Sri Sudheendra Babu garu. This will be very helpful when we visit those sacred places.

We give few details here about our pilgrimage to Avadhita Ramireddy Thatha samadhi here.

Anyone who would like to visit Sri Ramireddy Thatha samadhi have to go to Kurnool in Andhra pradesh. Kurnool is approximately 210kms from Hyderabad. Thatha samadhi is in a small village called Kalluru. Kalluru is almost merged with Kurnool now. One can enter from highway or from inside Kurnool. If we go through Kurnool, there is a bridge that separates from Kalluru.

As soon as we enter Kalluru, there is a big tree(guess it is Ravi chettu), underneath it there is a old house like satram where few musicians appeared practicing. We can see many villagers sitting underneath tress. Near that tree, we can wash our feet. There is a temple (guess Kalabhairava temple). From there we have to walk inside the village. We can see few more temples like Veerabhadraswamy temple. From there within few minutes, we can reach Thatha samadhi. It is a pleasant experience walking through the village to reach Thatha samadhi.

If we go early in the morning, it will be very quiet and can spend lot of peaceful time at Thatha samadhi.  We can see a small hall where Thatha sits and Samadhi in front of Thatha vigraha. Usually Thatha samadhi is opened early in the morning around 5 AM(may be by 4.30). Udaya arathi is given at around 5.30. 40-50 devotees can sit in front of Thatha samadhi. And early in the morning, it will be quiet peaceful. After udaya arati is given to Thatha, teerthaprasada will be distributed. People take darshan of Thatha, do pradakshina and goes back to their homes. Later Mangala snana is performed to the Samadhi. Then clean the small hall infront of Samadhi to get ready to receive devotees again. This is the time we are allowed and can contribute to the seva. Everyone can bring water from outside and do mangala snana to Thatha samadhi.

We have noticed many kids of the village visit Thatha just before going to schools. Also we have noticed few devotees offer Dattatreya stotras sitting in front of Thatha just before going to offices. Sometimes we have observed devotees bring Tamalapakulu and offer them to Thatha samadhi. They spread beautifully over the entire Samadhi. At this time around 8.30 or 9AM, they give Arati to Thatha. Prasadam distribution follows.

There is dhuni opposite to Thatha samadhi outside the hall. We can offer coconuts there. We have noticed one big hall just behind Dhuni. This may be to accommodate devotees who visit from outside or to perform festivals. Not sure about that. But it can be inquired if anyone would like to spend more time in Kalluru.

There is another sacred place called Tapovanam where Thatha immersed in meditation when no one knew about Thatha as Avadhuta. This place is not inside Kalluru. We have to walk slightly away from Kalluru almost cross the highway in Kurnool. This may take 10 minutes from Thatha samadhi. We can take help from devotees or Kalluru villagers near Thatha samadhi. There is a Sri Rama temple. Just adjacent to the temple on the right side, there is a big tree. There is a small room where Thatha immersed in Dhyana. At that time it was a open field and noone used to walk around there. There used to be a water pump. Thatha used to sit there for hours in dhyana.

We offer our Sastanga namaskaralu to Master garu for giving us opportunity to spend few hours of our life time in the presence of Thatha.

Jai Sai Master.

About Sri Pakalapati Guruvugari Asramamu at Bhimasingi
« Reply #5 on: June 03, 2012, 04:19:38 PM »
Jai Sai Master.

Tomorrow (4th June 2012) is the Jayanti of Sri Pakalapati Guruvu garu by tithi.
On this auspicious occasion, I would like to post here the details of Guruvu gari Asramamu at Bhimasingi.

There are more than 10 ashrams of Pakalapati guruvu garu near Narsipatnam!!!
Sri Bharadwaja Master garu visited and stayed with Pakalapati Guruvu garu at Bhimasingi Asramamu.
I think it is also one of places where Pakalapati Guruvu garu stayed for quite a long time.
Some information about this asramamu was already posted in our formus:
http://www.saimasterforums.org/hearts-out/bhimasingi/

The journey to this place is beautifully explained by Master garu:
http://saibharadwaja.org/books/readbook.aspx?book=6&page=5
http://saibharadwaja.org/books/readbook.aspx?book=6&page=6

Here are some more details...

How to reach Bhimasingi:
Here is the relevant map:
http://goo.gl/maps/mKD6

The nearby train station to this place is Tuni. Tuni is in the Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam train route. While going by train towards VIsakhapatnam, Tuni comes approximately 2 hours before Visakhapatnam.

(1) Get down at Tuni train station and go to Tuni Bus stand, it's very near.

(2) From Tuni Bus stand, if you can catch a bus going to Gudem (It's NOT Tadepalli Gudem), you can directly go to Lotugadda Junction. Gudem bus goes via Narsipatnam only. So, you can even prefer to go to Narsipatanam first and then to Lotu gadda Jn. as the frequency of buses to Narsi Patnam is more.

(3) From Lotugadda Jn, it's a 40 minutes walk to Guruvugari ashram at BhimaSingi. You can enquire at Lotugadda Jn. itself about the route to Bhimasingi.

About the Ashram:
Homas are performed at this ashram on Pournima and Amavasya of every month, and also on Maha Siva ratri. Many devotees visit the ashram on these occasions. The people at ashram receive the visitors with great hospitality and affection; they take care of all our needs to the extent that we start feeling guilty that we do not deserve such care! If possible, plan to stay there for at least one night, as it gives glimpses of how it would have been to be with Pakalapati Guruvu garu physically.

About Balighattam:
Here is the relevant map:
http://goo.gl/maps/8AIx

The funeral rites of Pakapati Guruvugaru were performed at Balighattam. Balighattam is very close to Narsipatnam (3 km). It was done in the presence of Master EK garu, and many of His students. In that sacred place, now there is a temple and a marble statue of Pakalapati Guruvu garu. I heard that many devotees come there and stay for 2-3 days, doing parayana of Sri Guru Charitra and Sri Sai Leelamrutamu. I also read that Yoga classes are conducted at this place, every year during December - 24, 25 & 26, by the students of Master EK garu.

Valli-Bhuvan garu, happy to know that you are going to visit Bhimasingi. You may consider visiting Balighattam also as it is on the way to Bhimasingi itself, just 3 Km away from Narsipatnam. If possible, please take some pictures of those places and share with us :)

BTW, if you are planning to travel from Vizag to Narsipatnam, it seems you need not have to go via Tuni.
The following route might be the right one:

About Pithapuram
« Reply #13 on: June 10, 2012, 05:15:56 PM »
Jai Sai Master.

How to Reach Pithapuram:
Pithapuram is 10 km from Samalkota Junction on the Vijayawada - Visakhapatnam Railway Line, and ~55 km from Rajahmundry.

Trains that stop at Pithapuram are: Godavari Express, East Cost Express, Bhokaro Express
Sripada Srivallabha Maha Samsthanam is 1 km away from Pithapuram Railway station:
http://goo.gl/maps/jN4m

Trains that stop at Samalkota are:  Phalkanama Express, Konark Express, Nizamuddin Link Express, Okha Link Express, Navajeevan Express, Prasanti Express, Yashwantpur Express, Seshadri Express, Shirdi Express.
There are frequent buses, taxis and autos from Samalkota to Pithapuram. Special Taxis from Samalkota to Pithapuram could cost around Rs.150-350.

The landmark for Samsthanam is that: it is in Venugopala swami temple street. Some of the auto/rikshaw drivers get confused this place with other Dattareya temples in Pithapuram. So, you may tell them explicitly that you want to go to the temple in - "Venugopala-Swami-vaari-Gudi-Veedhi".

About Accommodation:
Accommodation and food (prasadam) are available for free of cost at Sripada Sri Vallabha Maha Samsthanam.
These rooms are in the premises of the Temple itself, and are generally very well maintained.
I think you can book the rooms in advance, by contacting them by Phone: (08869)250300, during Office hours (9-00 AM to 12-00 noon, and 4-00 PM to 8-00 PM)
Unless you are going there during special occasions (like Datta Jayanti), I think there won't be much problem even if you look for rooms after reaching there.

About the Places to Visit:
The main places to visit are grouped into 3, and their locations can be seen in the following map:
http://goo.gl/maps/tjf7

(1) The most important place to visit is of course, the Padukas and temple of Sripada Srivallabha. These are at Sripada Srivallabha Maha Samsthanam, which is the birth place Sripada Swami,  and later located by Sri Vasudevananda Saraswathi Swami according to the instructions of Sri Datta Swami. One can do here pradakshinas to the temple, Oudambura vruksham, and padukas together. Parayana can be done in the temple itself. Temple timings: 5-30 AM to 12-30 PM, and 4 PM to 8-30 PM.

(2) All the below mentioned places in this group are located in the same campus:

2.a Pithapuram is one of the 18 Shakthipithas (అష్టాదశ శక్తి పీఠాలు) in India; the ammavaru here is called: "Puruhootika Devi". (That's why the actual name of this village is - పీఠికాపురము / పురుహూతికాపురము).

2.b This place is also known as Pada Gaya  (పాద గయ) - one of the 3 Gayas (the other two are in Bihar & Orissa). There is Gaya tirtham (sacred pond) here and one can take bath in this tirtham.

2.c The Shiva in this place is known as: Kukkuteswara Swami (కుక్కుటేశ్వర స్వామి, కుక్కుటము=కోడి). This is a Svayambhuva lingam. It was said by the priests here that the initial shape of this svambhuva linga is that of a Cock's head. It was in this form Shiva killed Gayasura. but now, after so many years of abhishekas to the linga, it looks slightly rounded. In front of the Shiva lngam, there is a gigantic Nandi. The shrine of Sri Rajarajeswari, consort of Sri Kukkuteswara Swami, is present beside the Shiva temple.

2.d  There is a temple of Dattareya Swami in the same campus with an idol of Sri Datta Swami, Padukas and Oudumbara vruksham.

2.e There is also "Akhanda Datta Brundavanamu" containing the idols of all 5 dattavataras. There are other temples as well in the premises.

(3) There is Sripada Vallabha Anagha Datta Kshethram, Constructed by Mysoor Datta Peetham of Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Ashram. It's a very beautiful temple.

There are other well known temples also in Pithapuram like: Kunthi Madhava Swami Temple.
