Importance of kaala nirNayamu

According to vedas time divided upto Truti is 3 (TrasarEnu = 3 (Anu = 2 Paramaanu)). But Paramaanu is also measure for space.

According to modern physics also time and space are inseparable, even though it is beyond our common sense.

We know each space has some properties. Similarly time also has properties.

Knowing these properties and living accordingly is all about jyotishyamu.

Also in our own house we do not use the space of some room for another purpose. But avadhuutaas do it. For them everything is parabrahmamu. So they can eat in an untidy place. We don't do it.

Similarly we do should avoid some timings. Like not doing hair cutting on amavaasya, as a simple example. There are very rich knowledge sparks we get from jyotishya, puraanaas regarding these.

As a learned people we should follow jyotishya and the timings mentioned. It is a sign of progress. Doing things in correct timing and not doing things in incorrect time is a sign of maturity, just like a kid learns using correct place in the house for a given action.

But....Krishna paramaatmaa says I am there in amaavaasya, I am there in puurnima. Do not think I am not there. Constant devotion is what was mentioned by maaster gaaru also and we see laying foundation stones immediately on the spot without any active checking of muhurtaas by maaster gaaru. It appears with constant bhakti muhurtaas are not needed.

I think even on Janma tara days we are not supposed to go for a hair cut etc. by taara balam.

Jai Sai Master!

Although in principle it is true, there are a few issues with this.

One, there are different calculations involved like sayana, nirayana, etc. Then there are all these differences between north indian and south indian versions of these aspects of jyotisha. Then, there are the issues of Sampradaya, each having its own set of good times and bad times.

Hence, looking at all these, it is quite confusing for people as to which is to be followed. Its a centuries old debate.

In this aspect, Master E.K.'s comments are enlightening. Those who are in the fold of a Sadguru He says, do not need to look at any of these, and normal jyotisha does not apply to them. Their lives are guided by Sadguru and that is the prime thing they need to remember, and do things as and when they need to be done. He also mentions the fact that for most of us, our previous karma determines when we get opportunity for getting our hair cut etc., and not our decisions (although they might appear so). Hence for most of us Jyotisha is just a way to recognize patterns that happen in our lives, not as a guiding principle. This is for most of the people. Only people who have started on the practice of Spirituality and who are in ardent prayer for the Lord, will be given the opportunity to choose the timings for various things.

Also, the crux of jyotisha lies in four aspects. Muhurta is just one. Remembering the fact that all time is good time is key to understanding jyotisha. The meaning of Jyotishya is given by Varahamihira as the science that 'enlightens' (Jyoti+iva : like a lamp in darkness) the world around us. It is not a predictive science.

Lastly, what I wrote does not discount the science itself, just that one needs to understand how and why the science applies.
I would suggest not to worry about any such too much, but just focus on getting things done the simplest and quickest way possible and get on with life and being in His thought.

Jai Sai Master!

"graha balamu kuuDaa guruni anugrahabalaaniki lOkuvE" says sri sai leelaamruthamu. Hence constant chintanamu of guru takes care everything. Agreed.
